A day after accusing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of trying to topple its government in Punjab through ‘Operation Lotus,’ the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday filed a complaint with Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav, seeking ‘a fair probe into this serious matter.’

Addressing a press conference, senior AAP leader and Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema said that he along with AAP MLAs has filed a formal complaint with all proofs to the DGP to expose the unholy tactics of the BJP.

“A complaint against the BJP leaders and their agents has been submitted before the DGP for offering Rs 25 crore each to at least 10 Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs) in the state and also giving life threat to Jalandhar West MLA Sheetal Angural and others for exposing their wicked agendas before public,” he said.

The AAP leader said that the BJP is making a futile attempt to bring down Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann led AAP government in Punjab. Calling the BJP a ‘serial killer’ of democracy, Cheema slammed the saffron party for making dubious attempts to bring down elected governments in the country.

He said that the BJP has murdered democracy by toppling elected governments in various states after abusing the central investigation agencies and through money power. “It (BJP) tried the same in Punjab but the staunch soldiers of AAP foiled the BJP’s nefarious agenda,” Cheema added.

He said that the BJP agents and workers from Delhi and Punjab have tried to break 35 MLAs of the AAP to topple the government in the state. Cheema said the BJP is baffled by the growing popularity of AAP and its supremo Arvind Kejriwal.

“So the BJP is now afraid of Kejriwal and is trying to stop him by any means. The horse-trading adopted by the BJP has been going on in different states of the country. BJP under its ‘Operation Lotus’ had earlier changed governments in Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Arunachal Pradesh,” he said.

“In the latest target under ‘Operation Lotus,’ eight MLAs of the Congress have switched over to the BJP in Goa today. It is a testament of the fact that the BJP is killing democracy and forming its government in non-ruling BJP states by breaking MLAs with the help of CBI, ED and money,” Cheema said.

He said that the BJP will never succeed in its wicked plans in Punjab even if they offer Rs 2200 crore because the loyal soldiers of AAP under the leadership of Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann are standing like a rock.
